Public spaces for communication
A city, which is “alive” in the dark
How do our streets look alike in the dark? Central streets of larger towns are usually illuminated during Christmas period. Due to economic reasons street lights of less important places are rarefied – every second or even every third light is turned on. Let’s turn to a remote street, somewhere further from the main street – I wonder if you enjoyed walking unsafe in permanent darkness? Consequently, television is much more preferable to night walking with friends in the town
After all, we could lead a very different way of life. We could walk in the streets and courtyards at night without any fear, only if public spaces were illuminated. LED (light emitting diodes) lighting devices could replace the conventional street lighting. A lot of electricity would be saved to illuminate even the darkest corners of the city.
Could our parks, squares and quays be possibly fun at dusk?
We usually go for a walk in the park or alongside the quay in daytime. Such places in the evening become either the kingdom of darkness or are very rarely lit. Let’s imagine park benches, trees, bridges illuminated at nighttime by different colour of light! A large number of people gather here to share the daily experience. LED lighting devices make such places either romantic and joyful or convivial – depending on the season or even occasion.
